Types of Systems

Kitchen Suppression Systems

Each year in North America alone, kitchen fires kill hundreds of people and injure thousands not to mention causes millions in dollars in damage. In today’s commercial kitchens, higher temperature cooking oils and high efficiency, slow-cooling appliances such as deep-fat fryers have combined to make fire suppression more challenging. The need to protect people and property from fire is crucial.

A restaurant fire suppression system is designed to provide fire protection for restaurant cooking appliances, exhaust hoods, and ducts as defined by the National Fire Protection Association NFPA 17A – Standard for Wet Chemical Extinguishing Systems, and NFPA 96 – Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations. These systems are pre-engineered and consist of mechanical and electrical components for installation by an authorized distributor.

As an authorized distributor of Amerex, Ansul, Badger, Kidde and Pyro-Chem restaurant/kitchen fire suppression systems, we can match your needs with the system that best suits them. The right system can automatically discharge, warn the kitchen staff and suppress the fire (in its earliest stages), protecting both equipment and people. As a result, damage is limited and equipment down time is held to a minimum. Protect lives, come up to code and reduce your insurance costs with the proper kitchen fire suppression systems. Let General Fire Equipment design and maintain the right system for you.

Whether it is a loader operator or children riding in their school bus, Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems are designed to protect human life by quickly and efficiently suppressing a fire before it can reach the operator or passenger areas.

Major vehicle components such as engines, transmissions, charging systems, hydraulic systems, and braking and control systems are susceptible to fire in most case without the operating noticing. Avoid costly equipment loss, equipment downtime, product loss, and most importantly, operator or passenger injury by installing a Vehicle Suppression System.

These systems are intended for use on both mobile and self-propelled equipment such as off-road earth moving, mining, land clearing, forestry, landfill and farming vehicles, over-the-road buses, trains, maintenance and refuse collection vehicles, and mobile equipment such as pumps, compressors or generators.

General Fire Equipment has more than 10 years experience designing, installing and servicing vehicle suppression systems. We have certified technicians in Dry-Chemical, Wet Agent and Dual Agent systems designed to tackle a wide array of fire risks in any environment.

As an authorized distributor of Amerex, Ansul, Firetrace and Kidde vehicle fire protection systems, we can match your needs with the system that best suits them. The right system can automatically discharge, warn the operator and suppress the fire (in its earliest stages), protecting both equipment and people. As a result, damage is limited and equipment down time is held to a minimum. Protect lives and reduce your insurance costs with the proper vehicle fire protection systems.

General Fire Equipment installs, maintains and services pre-engineered fire suppression systems for industrial applications. These systems are designed for ease of installation and superior fire suppression for industrial applications including industrial paint spray booths, open-faced industrial paint spray booths, hazardous material and flammable liquid storage buildings, and paint lockers and other defined industrial applications. General Fire Equipment is an authorized distributor of Amerex, Ansul, Firetrace, Kidde, Pemall and Pyro-Chem industrial systems. Code minimum fire protection systems, such as fire sprinklers, provide protection for your personnel and building structure. But, when it comes to high-value assets such as electronic equipment, data, or irreplaceable items, water can be just as damaging as fire!

Clean Agent Fire Suppression Systems are superior to basic water-based fire protection systems in many ways:

  • Electrically non conductive, and does not damage electronics
Water is a great conductor and ruins electronics!
  • Is safe for people and can be used in occupied and unoccupied spaces.
  • Extinguishes a fire faster than water. Because they act quickly, clean agents greatly reduce the amount of smoke and soot damage caused by a fire.
  • Environmentally responsible.
  • Protects your high-valued assets—even collectibles and irreplaceable artifacts.

General Fire Equipment can install, inspect and maintain all of the major manufacturers such as the following:

Halon™

Halon systems are hands down the best clean agent systems for suppressing fires. Fire protection companies began installing halon systems in the 1960s in computer rooms, data centers, switch gear rooms and other areas where water could damage equipment. Halon systems were installed up until 1994 when the production of Halon 1301 was banned. While new halon systems are no longer installed there are many systems still in service. Halon 1301 and Halon 1211 is still used in commercial and military aviation because it is the lightest, most effective fire suppression agent.

ECARO-25™

ECARO-25™, utilizing HFC-125 (DuPont™ FE-25™) as the fire-extinguishing agent, is the most cost-effective, UL Listed and FM Approved clean agent fire protection system available.

FM-200™

FM-200 / Sinorix 227 is a clean fire suppression agent, ideal for the protection of any facility containing valuable assets vital to the company’s ability to conduct normal business operations. FM-200 has no cleanup, eliminating costly downtime. It is safe for occupied areas because it is effective well below any adverse concentrations and does not displace as much oxygen as many other clean agents. FM-200 is gaining wide acceptance as one of the best alternative to Halon 1301

Firetrace

Economical, on-board fire suppression for everything from computer cabinets (in-cabinet fire suppression) to CNC machines, medical imaging equipment, electrical closets and even small data centers. Whether you’re a business that depends on a small server rack or a big business that wants to protect critical equipment from fire, the Firetrace clean agent fire protection system is the answer.

PROINERT™

Inert gas systems are the safe, natural way to extinguish a fire. The PROINERT™ fire suppression system offers all the benefits of previous inert gas systems with several significant design improvements. PROINERT™. . .the safest, most economical inert gas system on the market.

CO2 Fire Protection System

The Carbon Dioxide or CO2 fire protection systems are available for use in total flooding or local application type, fire protection applications. General Fire CO2 fire suppression packages can include sophisticated control panels, delayed action devices, warning signs, manual releasing devices, automatic fire detection and fire warning devices.

Novec Clean Agent Systems

General Fire offers engineered fire suppression system designed for use with 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid. Engineered to provide clean, fast, people-safe protection for applications requiring a “green” solution to fire suppression.

Water Mist Clean Agent Systems

A Water Mist fire suppression system is an effective, environmentally-friendly fire protection option for a multitude of fire hazards. Water mist systems split up water into very small droplets, creating a large reaction surface and, therefore, efficiently absorbing the heat of the fire. Because only small amounts of water are required, water damage is reduced to a minimum.

Gas monitoring systems are pre-engineered systems designed to be utilized on any type of alternately fueled vehicle. The system can be installed by the vehicle OEM or retrofitted. Its advanced technology can detect: Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), Propane (LPG), Hydrogen and any other hydrocarbon fuel vapors. General Fire is certified in Gas Detection Systems. Let General Fire make sure your natural gas fleets is monitored correctly.
